Offers Universal Pictures
Universal Pictures is a film studio located in the United States. The success of this study and this company is so great that it is considered one of the 5 largest in Hollywood . Throughout its history and ours, it has left films that have become a benchmark in cinema and that almost everyone has seen at least once in their life.
Although the company was founded in 1912 by Carl Laemmle, Mark Dintenfass, Charles O Baumann, Adam Kessel, Pat Powers, William Swanson, David Horsley, and Jules Brulatour, the truth is that its history begins earlier with its president, Carl. Laemmle was interested in the world of cinema so he stood in front of a box office for hours and watched the customers come in to calculate the profits. When he returned from a trip to Chicago, he quit his company to buy theaters where movies were shown.
He created the Motion Picture Trust which was backed by Thomas Edison which implied that part of the profits had to go to him for shares such as using his inventions or showing films produced by the Trust. At the time, Carl and his partners decided to produce their own films and thus they would not have to pay Edison since he would not participate in this new project.
In 1909 he started to create the Yankee Film Company, which after a few years became the Independent Moving Pictures Company and there many films were created from the first film studio in the United States . One of the biggest changes that Laemmle introduced was to give credits to the actors and actresses who appeared in the film, which attracted great personalities of the cinema of that time, since the fact that their name appeared on the screen would make them famous and they began to use the term "movie stars."
And finally, on April 30, 1912, Universal Studios was founded in New York City, but in a few months, they would move to the west of the country to start shooting and creating their movies in Hollywood . Three years later, he bought a plot of almost 1 square km where he built his studio. Grateful for the public that saw and was interested in his films, Carl decided that people could visit his studio as a tourist , something that did not happen with the other greats in the industry.
From there, the success of the company was non-stop and around it, a whole world of films has been created that have remained forever in the history of cinema and even basic in general culture. Among the most outstanding and blockbuster films we find:
- ET, the extraterrestrial: This movie tells the story of an alien abandoned on planet Earth because his family had to flee from humans. This alien is found by a boy named Elliott who takes him home and they become great friends.
- Jaws: It was published in 1975 and is about a great white shark that lurks on the beaches of Amity Island waiting to devour bathers. The police chief decides to hunt down the huge animal to end the deaths and provide security in his city. The film is suspenseful and horror so much of the film suffers aided by an epic soundtrack and recognizable around the world.
