Tous is a world famous jewelery, fashion and accessories brand with Spanish origin. Its founders were Salvador Tous Clavi and his wife Teresa Ponsa Mas. Currently it has more than 700 stores distributed by 50 countries which allows us to get an idea of the level of importance of this jewelry internationally .
It all started in 1920 when Salvador and his wife decided to open a very familiar watch repair shop. Already in those days, the watch was a highly coveted object and that, on many occasions, could be considered a jewel. Well, customers began to request jewelry repairs for their women so little by little they entered the world of accessories made with precious materials.
The company continued to grow and in 1965, the married couple's son, named Salvador like his father, took control of the company and that same year he married Rosa Oriol, so she also became 100% involved in the family business . The union of this couple creates a perfect combination of Salvador's business experience, with the creativity that Rosa has always overwhelmed.
While in the store, Rosa always tried to find a way to improve the appearance of her clients and began to modify and create jewelry that began to be liked a lot among society and gained a reputation in her environment as a great jewelry. The next important step that Alba took was the creation of a brand symbol that, over the years, everyone would recognize just by looking at the shape or silhouette. Rosa had always been passionate about travel and loved traveling the world both within her country and abroad. On one of his trips, in Milan specifically, he passed a shop window in which there was a teddy bear. The thought crossed his mind that he was adorable and that everyone wanted to have a teddy bear close by to cuddle at night before bed. She wanted her jewelry to also convey the idea of closeness and desire, so she managed to bring the image of the teddy bear to her jewelry.
When he began to design the model together with the master jeweler, they realized that the lines and shape had to be as simple as possible due to its complexity when making it. It was not the only figure that was launched at the premiere of the themed jewels. Along with the bear figure you could find others in the shape of a star, elephant, hearts, flowers ... but without a doubt the one that stood out the most was the bear .
From that moment on, the brand focused on continuing to create products with the bear and using it as a brand image. Its success has been such that we no longer need to see the letters of Tous next to the bear to know which brand it belongs to. What's more, it doesn't have to be the entire image itself with its eyes, arms, legs… with the simple silhouette, we already associate it with the Tous brand.
In the 1980s, the company began to expand its product portfolio as its success allowed it. From this expansion, a multitude of articles related to fashion and styling emerged. Bags, glasses, perfumes, clothes, wallets ... even mobile phone cases. Most of these products were already marked with the figure of the bear, which made it easy for others to recognize if you were wearing a Tous item.
