The history of Columbia begins in Nazi Germany. The name that resulted from this change is the one we know today and that has identified the firm for more than 50 years: Columbia Sportswear. In 1970, Neal died suddenly of a heart attack, causing Gelert, a woman who had always dedicated herself to housework , to become one of the most important entrepreneurs in the country overnight. With the help of their son, they launched the brand to stardom, although when they both took command of the company, many of their employees quit their jobs and sales decreased by 25%. With some concern but with a lot of enthusiasm, they went to work tirelessly and did not quit their company even when they received offers to buy from the company.
